McMaverick Passes

Trot Insider has learned that Western Maverick gelding McMaverick, who won 21 of his 153 career starts and banked over $105,000 in purses, has passed away at the age of ten.

Owner/trainer/driver Keith Campbell of Tyne Valley, PEI, confirmed the news with Trot Insider.

Bred by Robert McIntosh Stables Inc. and CSX Stables, McMaverick raced in Ontario from 2009 until the fall of 2012, when he moved into Campbell’s stable in the Maritimes and started to race exclusively on the Red Shores circuit.

Out of the Artsplace mare Six Of Arts, McMaverick took his mark of 1:55.2 over the Charlottetown Driving Park at age seven. From his 153 career starts, he compiled a record of 21 wins, 22 second-place finishes and 26 thirds.
