'Bulldog' Leads Poll For Eighth Consecutive Week

Canadian Pacing Derby elimination winners Bulldog Hanover and Jimmy Freight bookend the Top 10 in the Week 13 Hambletonian Society/Breeders Crown poll released Tuesday (Aug. 30).

Bulldog Hanover, who won his elimination in 1:48 this past Saturday at Woodbine Mohawk Park, is No. 1 in the rankings for the eighth consecutive week.

Jimmy Freight, who captured his elim in 1:49.1, rejoined the Top 10 at No. 10. Jimmy Freight, racing for only the second time following a two-month absence, was No. 1 in the poll for three weeks earlier this season.

Little else changed in the Top 10. The only shifting of positions came with Joviality S and Test Of Faith swapping spots No. 2 and No. 3.

Cool Papa Bell dropped from the Top 10.

The Hambletonian Society/Breeders Crown poll does not determine U.S. Horse of the Year. The members of the U.S. Harness Writers Association vote on all Dan Patch Award division winners plus Trotter of the Year, Pacer of the Year and Horse of the Year.

Rankings based on the votes of harness racing media representatives on a 10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 basis.

I would like the person who said "Jimmy Freight could not compete with the horses entered in the Canadian Pacing Derby" to explain how and why he won his elimination!

I would like the person that gave Test of Faith his first-place vote to explain the reasoning behind his vote. Bulldog Hanover has won more races and earned nearly a quarter of a million dollars more than Test of Faith, even though he has raced fewer times. Bulldog Hanover paced the fastest mile in harness racing history, while Test of Faith hasn't even paced the fastest mile by a mare; Shartin holds that record.
