Vaughn Marshall Passes

In loving memory of Vaughn Marshall

Vaughn L. Marshall passed away in his home in Campbellville, Ont. in his 83rd year, on Oct. 13, 2023, surrounded by the people he loved, including the love of his life, Liana, his partner in marriage for over 38 years. He was born in Clarence Centre, Annapolis, Nova Scotia on Dec. 17, 1940, to Lillian and Vaughn Marshall.

Vaughn was a loving father to his daughter Adeane (Ken) and son Mark (Victoria) and a proud and loving grandfather to Ryan and Marabelle. He is survived by his sisters, Shirley, Elaine (Herb), his brother, Ronald, and sister-in-law Laura (Aldo). He will be greatly missed by his co-pilot dog, Mya, who joined him for a muffin every morning at the coffee shop in town. Coffee for Vaughn, muffin for Mya. It was a daily ritual that both Mya and Vaughn looked forward to. There was always a discussion to be had at the coffee shop.

Vaughn left Nova Scotia at an early age to carve his own path. He enlisted in The Royal Canadian Air Force and worked as an Electrical Technician. Following his service, he started a career in metal spinning and opened Ontario Metal Spinning in 1975. He was a perfectionist in his craft, maintaining his clientele for decades.

Vaughn was always learning. If you needed a solution to a problem, ask Vaughn. You could say, he was a wealth of information, some useful, but even more interesting was the useless information he absorbed. A conversation with Vaughn about anything and everything was always entertaining with a joke thrown in here and there to brighten the day.

He loved sports, was passionate about car racing and with Marshall being his last name, horses were destined to be a pivotal part of his life. Vaughn loved all animals but the horses were always special. He was an owner and breeder of Standardbred horses and boarded horses for fellow horsemen for many years.

Vaughn will be greatly missed by his family, friends and all who were fortunate enough to have crossed paths with him at Ontario Metal Spinning, the baseball diamond (OTLB), the coffee shop and the track.

Vaughn's smile and quick wit will be the memory his family and friends hold dear.

Please join Standardbred Canada in offering condolences to the family and friends of Vaughn Marshall.
