Ken Curran Passes

In loving memory of Ken Curran

Longtime Standardbred owner Kenneth Ernest 'Ken' Curran passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2023 at the age of 82 after a short battle with cancer.

Ken was known for his love of sports, in particular baseball, hockey, basketball, lacrosse, golf and horse racing. Many knew him by his nickname 'Pidge.' He was a avid golfer and longtime member of Treehaven Golf & Country Club.

He was the longtime husband to Harriet Curran (predeceased) and beloved father to Kelly (Lori Coady) and John (Lori) Curran. Loving grandfather of Angela (Henry) Willis, Sherry (Robert) McAndrew, Michael, Amy and Jacob Curran. Dear brother of Jack (predeceased), Tom, Joan Ferguson and Alan (Tine) Curran. Ken will be sadly missed by his nieces and nephews and their families.

Ken will be remembered for his love of harness racing. He was an owner and member for almost 45 years. Although he didn’t get out to the races much in the past few years, he took pride in watching his horses race on TV and live streamed.

Ken also bred and raised horses on his farm in Warminster. Tawnee Herbert held a special part of Ken’s heart and even after racing and being a broodmare, she lived out her life as a special part of the family until recently passing away last year at the age of 32.

A visitation will take place at Mundell Funeral Home, 79 West St. B, Orillia on Saturday, Oct. 21, 2023, from 3-5 p.m.

Please join Standardbred Canada in offering condolences to the family and friends of Ken Curran.
