Revised Rideau Schedule Approved

Harness racing at Rideau Carleton Raceway

On Monday, March 13, the Registrar of the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) approved the application made by Rideau Carleton Raceway to amend its 2023 race date schedule.

The schedule changes were proposed last week to accomodate preparations for the 2023 harness racing season after a fire destroyed the racing paddock in February.

The amendments to the race date schedule for Rideau Carleton Raceway include pushing the season's start date to Sunday, April 2 and adding Wednesday night cards through the month of April.

The following four race dates have been deleted:

  • Sunday, March 19
  • Sunday, March 26
  • Thursday, April 20
  • Thursday, April 27

The following four race dates have been added, with post time set for 7 p.m.:

  • Wednesday, April 5
  • Wednesday, April 12
  • Wednesday, April 19
  • Wednesday, April 16

The application for amendment to the 2023 race date schedule was reviewed by Ontario Racing and Ontario Lottery and Gaming and recommendations for approval of the changes were received from both organizations. The approved changes to the 2023 race date schedule are also conditional upon approval by the Canadian Pari-Mutuel Agency.

Following this revised schedule, the Ottawa oval will now host live harness racing on Wednesdays (post time 7 p.m.) and Sundays (post time 6:30 p.m.) in April then switch to its original weekly schedule of racing Thursdays (post time 4 p.m.) and Sundays (post time 6:30 p.m.) in May.
