Cool Muscle Makes Round Trip To Victory Lane

Cool Muscle was treated to a second-over journey in Tuesday’s featured trot at Woodbine Mohawk Park, and the gelding wasn’t about to let it go to waste in his quest to repeat.

Fresh off a Preferred Trot triumph at Grand River Raceway, the Jessica Hayter trainee took his talent to Campbellville and got the job done thanks to a sweet trip mapped out by driver Scott Young.

Cool Muscle got away fifth from Post 7 and watched Gold Edition and HP Royal Theo battle to the quarter pole in :27.1.  HP Royal Theo eventually worked his way to the top and then cruised through middle fractions of :56.3 and 1:25.3.

Warrawee Whisper went into attack mode from first-over around the final turn, and stalking that cover on the rim was race favourite Cool Muscle.  HP Royal Theo put away Warrawee Whisper, but he couldn’t quite hold off the surging Cool Muscle.  He used a :27.2 final frame to win by a neck over HP Royal Theo in 1:53.4.  Gold Edition came up a neck short, as well, while finishing third.

Ed and Jessica Hayter of Erin, ON share ownership on the 20-time winner who pushed his lifetime earnings over $250,000 with the victory in the $20,000 conditioned affair.  He improved his 2022 record to 3-4-1 from a here 10 trips to the track this season.
