‘No Contest’ At Grand River

A two-horse accident occurred in Monday evening’s third race at Grand River Raceway, and as a result the AGCO Judges were forced to declare the dash a ‘No Contest’.

Just as the field was making its way off the second turn, Dandy Idea (Alfie Carroll) was in distress forcing her pilot to angle off the rail in an attempt to put her in the middle of the racetrack. The pacer bore back into the path of oncoming traffic though and collided with Century Georgia (Brett MacDonald).

Both pacers fell unseating their respective drivers in the process.

"The horses walked off fine," said Jamie Martin, Director of Operations at Grand River Raceway. "Brett MacDonald was fine, too, and continued driving on the card. Alfie Carroll was assessed onsite and transferred to local hospital for further treatment."

Trot Insider will provide further updates on Carroll when details become available. Please join Standardbred Canada in wishing Carroll a speedy and full recovery.
