Horsepeople Applaud The MHHA

Since March 12, when live racing was halted at Monticello Raceway due to the COVID-19 outbreak, the horsepeople have been without purse cheques.

The Monticello Harness Horsemen's Association Inc. (MHHA) has been supplying the many horsepeople in the backstretch of Monticello Raceway with straw, hay and feed since the cancellation of racing.

The horsepeople are really appreciative of the efforts of the MHHA. "I don't know how we would have been able to get through this without their help," noted horseman John DeSimone. "They have gone above and beyond!"

MHHA President Alan Schwartz noted, "The association is committed to serving our horsemen -- not only in times like this -- but if it means taking care of their horses or when our members are ill or hurt, in times of family problems or simply lending a hand when it's needed. It is our obligation to take care of our own. The feed, hay and straw program will continue until racing resumes. Hopefully...soon!"
