The meet-leading Dave Kelly stable dominated the day at The Track On 2.

Kelly trainees won three of the seven races in Lacombe, Alta. on Sunday afternoon (Sept. 4).

Driven by Logan Gillis, Munchie Chris ($7.30) capped off the training triple and led a $24.50 Kelly exactor in the $5,700 sixth race pacing feature, going wire-to-wire and holding off stablemate Restros Mystery by a half-length in 1:55.1. Race favourite Ernesto Delacruz and J.F. Gagne got up for third.

Kelly was aboard Restros Mystery for the runner-up finish after driving back-to-back winners from his stable earlier on the card as the debuting filly Snowpeak ($14.60) and the sophomore colt Angelo ($2.60) prevailed in their respective third and fourth race assignments.

Snowpeak rallied from the backfield to close out her maiden performance with a :28.3 final frame and set a new track record for two-year-old pacing fillies of 1:57.4. She beat a pair of three-year-old male rivals and knocked three-fifths of a second off the former divisional record that was set by Alexas Queen in 2019. Kelly shares ownership of the Artspeak-Snowbird filly, who is a half-sister to Ontario Sires Stakes Gold winner Sweet Young Thing ($234,940), with Josh MacDonald of Edmonton, Alta.

The Strathmore, Alta. horseman holds a commanding lead in the Track On 2 trainer standings with just two more Sunday afternoon programs remaining in the 2022 meet. Kelly has sent out 20 winners from his stable at the meet -- 13 more than Douglas Stout and Lance Ward, who are currently tied in second-place.

He also leads the driving colony with 29 victories in the bike while Brandon Campbell added to his second-place win count, now at 16, with three successful steers on Sunday.
