A pair of the top three-year-old pacing colts on the Eastern Seaboard will take on some battle hardened aged competitors in the Saturday evening (Sept. 3) top class at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.

Saturday evening has 12-dashes scheduled for a 6 p.m. (ADT) start time at Red Shores Charlottetown with the Race 11 Preferred 2 pace carrying a $3,000 purse.

Barrieau-McIsaac Stakes Champion Fern Hill General has pylon control in the top event with regular pilot Brodie MacPhee scheduled to be in the seat of the Tom Weatherbie trainee for owners Peter Smith and Gerald Morrisey of P.E.I. MacPhee will be racing at Exhibition Park Raceway in Saint John, N.B., during the afternoon before making the trek back home to Charlottetown to drive in the top evening dash.

Navalny sports two wins and two seconds since coming to P.E.I. from Rideau Carleton Raceway outside of Ottawa and is the morning-line choice in the event from post 2. Adam Merner will sit behind the Melissa Rennie trained four-year-old as the pacer searches for his 11th victory.

Blue Monk has post 3 out of the Jay Noye stable with Mark Bradley in the seat as he creeps towards win number 1,000 of his career. Bradley, who currently sits at 991 driving wins, has 11-drives on the night as he inches towards the milestone.

Post 4 will see the hard leaving Burn Out Hanover reunited with Brady Sweet for trainer Jeff Holmes, while 10-year-old Sportswriter stallion Moonwriter has post 5 with Ken Murphy picking up the drive for trainer Colin Johnson.

Atlantic Breeder’s Crown Champion Stash It Away leaves from post 6 in the field with Corey MacPherson driving the Kevin MacLean trained pacer after winning his latest start in 1:54.3 in a $18,750 Joe O’Brien Gold division.

The Post Time Picks side with Navalny on top of the Race 11 feature.

“Navalny has been awesome since arriving on P.E.I. and was just nipped on Gold Cup night. Moves back inside and will be on his toes so get ready for a gate to wire score.”
