Favourites had a field day in Tuesday’s Ontario Sires Stakes Grassroots divisions for three-year-old trotting colts and geldings at Woodbine Mohawk Park as Warrawee Xalt and Resolute Bay romped in their respective assignments.

Warrawee Xalt hustled to the lead in his $23,000 division for driver Trevor Henry, and the pair never looked back en route to a handy win.

Sent off as the even-money favourite, Warrawee Xalt powered to the lead and cruised through fractions of :27.2, :57.1 and 1:25.1 before using a :27.3 closing quarter to win by a length over Armstead Cole in 1:53.1.  Renegade Gypsy tagged along to grab the show dough.

Trainer Jeff Gillis co-owns the son of Royalty For Life-Noble Peace Prize with Ellen Ott of Buffalo, New York.  The victory improved his 2022 record to 2-2-1 from five outings and it pushed his lifetime earnings to $31,840.

Resolute Bay extended his winning streak to three-in-a-row thanks to his 1:53.4 triumph in the $22,600 second division.

James MacDonald hustled the 2-5 favourite to the lead from Post 8 and together they sliced out splits of :27.1, :56.1 and 1:25.1 before using a :28.3 closing kick to win by 2-1/4 lengths over Lenis.  Kipper Whipr Snipr rounded out the Trifecta ticket.

Harry Poulton trains the streaking son of Resolve-Tequila Slammer for Thestable Resolute Bay of Guelph, Ont.  The win improved Resolute Bay’s seasonal record to 4-1-3 from 15 starts and the lion’s share of the purse bumped his overall cash stash to $73,749.
