Melody Maker started winning in June and now he doesn’t want to stop as he heads for seven straight wins in the Tuesday (Aug. 8) evening featured pace at Red Shores at the Summerside Raceway.

The Prince County oval hosts a 12-dash card on Tuesday evening starting at 6 p.m., with the $3,600 Preferred 2 Pace lining up in race 11.

Melody Maker snuck up to win on June 20 in Summerside in 1:58.3 and has improved his time nearly every start since winning six straight including a 1:54 flat victory on July 23. Greg MacInnis of Tyne Valley, P.E.I. owns and trains the 10-time winner with son-in-law Dale Spence in the race bike from post three.

Woodmere Ideal Art will guard the cones from post one for the duo of driver David Dowling and trainer Sifroi Melason.

Frontier Cruise gets the driving talents of Brady Sweet from post two for trainer Jean Belliveau of New Brunswick. Spicet P is the post four starter fresh off a 1:54.3 win for trainer-driver Jason Hughes.

Sauble Attack has won this class before and will have Patrick Shepherd in the race bike for trainer Paul Biggar from post five.

Rounding out the field is veteran pacer Moonwriter from the Colin Johnson barn with Ken Murphy in the driver’s seat from post six.

The "Backstretch Beat" likes Melody Maker to win: “Melody Maker has won six straight but gets his toughest test to date in here. He will be gunning for the lead and we say the winning continues for this talented son of Hes Watching.”

Race seven on the night is the second P.E.I. leg of the Gamester-Pinkney Cup for up-and-coming drivers 30 and younger with less than 100 wins. The Team Gamester drivers competed in Charlottetown on Aug. 3 for the first leg and the top four point-earning reinsmen from the two heats will advance to the final being held in September at the Truro Raceway in Bible Hill, N.S. The winner of the Gamester leg will also receive a new driving suit courtesy of a partnership between Atlanticharnessracing.ca and Wendy MacRae.
