Rookies Look To Continue Sires Stakes Streaks

Tobins Profit has been nothing short of superb at every step of his young career and will seek to continue that trend Wednesday evening at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park as part of Old Home Week racing.

The capital oval has 11 races scheduled for a 7 p.m. start time with a pair of $16,940 Atlantic Sires Stakes A divisions for two-year-old pacing colts in Races 6 and 9.

Tobins Profit has post five in the Race 9 A division after winning all five of his career starts including a trio of sires stakes divisions. With regular driver Jason Hughes sitting behind his own trainee Tobins Party from post four, Corey MacPherson picks up the catch-drive aboard the Danny Romo-trained Tobins Profit for owners Kevin Dorey and Robert Sumarah of Nova Scotia and Frank Brundle of Ontario. The Stonebridge Terror colt will face off with five foes as he looks to extend his winning streak.

Howmac Charmer has rail control in line to David Dowling after being interfered with in his last start at Inverness Raceway and finishing third from the Earl Watts outfit.

Baconabiscuit has yet to find the winner’s circle in his career but never misses the top-three for trainer/driver Marc Campbell with post three to work with this week.

The "Post Time Picks" like Tobins Profit to continue winning: “Tobins Profit loses his regular driver as Hughes is committed to his own trainee but MacPherson is a capable stand in to keep this colt’s undefeated streak intact.”

The other $16,940 A division has Malignity guarding the pylons from post one in Race 6 for trainer/driver Paul Langille and owners Debbie Francis and Rosanne Langille of Nova Scotia. The Malicious colt was explosive when sent to the front in his last start in Inverness and draws clear of Tobins Profit again this week as he looks for his fifth straight. His top rivals include No Boats On Sunday (Myles Heffernan Sr.) and Meraki (Darryl MacLean).

The lone $3,000 Atlantic Sires Stakes B division for the rookie colts lines up in Race 3 with Bad Boy Boogie (Mike McGuigan) selected on top.
