SC Releases 2023 Q2 Quarterly Statistics Report

2023 Quarterly Racing Statistics For Q2

Standardbred Canada (SC) has released the 2023 Quarterly Racing Statistics for the country from the period of April 1 to June 30, compared to the same quarter last year.   

The report is broken down by region and by racetrack with specific data in each province such as Breeding, Unique Starts, Average Field Size, Purse, Handle, and more.

Here are some of the highlights from the 2023 Q2 Racing Statistics Report:

  • Average Field Size saw an increase of 4% overall with a whopping 19% increase in Field Size in the Western Region jumping from 6.3 in Q2-2022 to 7.5 in Q2-2023. Quebec had a 4% increase in field size from 7.6 to 7.9 year over year.  
  • There was a 3% increase in purse money with increases in the Atlantic Region (13%), Ontario (3%), and Quebec (1%). The Western region saw an 11% decrease in purse money due to fewer races reported earlier.
  • The country saw a 6% increase in Handle for the same period last year to this year with a 70% increase in the Atlantic Region, a 47% increase in the Quebec Region, a 6% increase in Ontario, and a 13% decline in the Western Region.
