Rookie pacing fillies will highlight the Wednesday evening (July 13) card as their Atlantic Sires Stakes season gets underway during Governor’s Plate Week at Red Shores at the Summerside Raceway.

The nine-dash program starts off at 6:30 p.m. with a pair of $16,640 Atlantic Sires Stakes A divisions for two-year-old pacing fillies in Races 3 and 7 and a $3,000 B division of the sires stakes for the freshman fillies in Race 5.

Rosetown Mary will look to start her career off with a win in Race 3 as trainer Corey MacPherson enters the daughter of Pang Shui in an A division after a 2:00.3 qualifying win. MacPherson drives the filly for his wife Lisa MacPherson along with co-owners Kerry and Emily Taylor of Stratford, P.E.I.

Other entries include Lookoveryour (to be driven by Marc Campbell), Royoz Allie (Ken Murphy), Elm Grove Redwine (David Dowling), Howmac Julia (Jason Hughes) and Woodmere Heather M (Brodie MacPhee).

The "Backstretch Beat" puts Rosetown Mary squarely on top of the triactor: “Rosetown Mary is the first foal out of former Open Mares champion Brodys Leona and she looks like the real deal. Comes off a very nice qualifier and will go off as the favourite in here and for good reason.”

The second $16,640 Atlantic Sires Stakes A division in Race 7 will see JJ Amelia look for her second straight win when she leaves from post five. The Tobago Cays filly was a winner in the lone start of her career for driver Mark Bradley, trainer Earl Smith and owners Jamie MacKinley of Cornwall, P.E.I., and James Perrot of Stratford, P.E.I.

The field also includes Entitled Express (Campbell), Gday Mate (Dale Spence), Itsuptoyou (MacPherson), Redland Misspretty (Gilles Barrieau) and Woodmere Jade (Myles Heffernan Sr.).

The finale on the night is the Gentleman Jim’s Restaurant Pace in Memory of Cam Cameron. Divide is the top choice from post five in the $1,850 dash for trainerdriver Danny Gillis. Other top entries include Howmac Blaze (MacPherson) and The Lady Sheriff (Campbell).
