Believe U Me was an odds-on favourite in the first division for trainer Meg Crone, and she didn’t disappoint her legion of pari-mutuel backers.
Louis-Philippe Roy got away in mid-pack with the daughter of Muscle Mass-I Believe while Its Your Choice hustled to the lead from Post 8 and whacked out fractions of :28.3, 1:00 and 1:30.4. The Dealers Ace applied first-over pressure on the leader around the final turn, and Believe U Me was positioned second-over as the field entered the final quarter of the rich tilt.
Sent off at odds of 1-2, the filly posted the maiden-breaking victory for owner W Donovan of Delray Beach, FL. She’s posted a win and a second-place finish in her first two assignments, and she’s banked over $72,000 in the process.
Righteous Resolve made a quarter-pole move to the lead in the second division for driver Paul MacDonell, and once she cleared to the top she dug in and secured the second victory of her young career.
Sent off as the 6-5 favourite, Righteous Resolve got away third while Shiny New Penny marched to the lead from Post 8 and had the field chasing her to the quarter pole in :28.2. MacDonell marched his charge out of the three-hole in the backstretch and then quickly took command as the field neared the half.
Righteous Resolve then laid down middle splits of :57.4 and 1:28.3 before coming under heavy pressure from Sweet Detrmination. Those two sparred around the turn and into the stretch before Righteous Resolve used her :28.4 closing quarter to propel her to the length decision over Sweet Detrmination in 1:57.2. Shiny New Penny was third.
