The Yorkton Exhibition proved a place driver Tyler Redwood liked as he drove to four wins on the Cornerstone Raceway Saturday at the fair

“I’ve had four, three-win nights, but never thought I would get four,” he said. “To have four is a whole different feeling. When I was coming around the final corner for the fourth one, I had butterflies, thinking this can’t be happening.”
The hot streak started early for Redwood as he took the opening race on the card winning a race for maidens (horses without a lifetime win) with Mystic Cameo. Cameo beat out Terry Kaufman and Meadowlark Apache and Rick Kosterman with Lunar Wynd Rose for the win.
Redwood said trainer Blake Piwniuk had told him just to make sure it was a clean trip for the two-year-old filly.
“It was the first time I ever sat behind her,” said Redwood. “But I got after her at the half and she just plugged along. Being a young horse, she didn’t know what to do. I had to keep after her, but she’s going to develop into something nice.”
Redwood was back to the winner’s circle with The Candy Man in the sixth race. It was The Candy Man’s second straight win in Yorkton, this time over Als Dream Gal with Clayton Braybrook in the seat.
“He’s a tough, tough horse to drive,” said Redwood. “He’s very, very head strong.”
Redwood said he was three high getting to the half, and while he ended up parked
“I just kept driving, and just hoped he had enough to get it done.”
The seventh race gave Redwood back-to-back wins Saturday as he piloted the filly Good One to her second straight win in Yorkton. Redwood has driven the three-year-old to its only three wins of the season for trainer Mark Haining.
Edward Tracey had Just A Mark in place position with Terry Kaufman and Kendal Diamond in the show spot.
“That filly (Good One) she’s beautiful to drive,” said Redwood, adding she’ll likely work her way up to the open class for mares and fillies. “And she’ll probably win there too. She’s just a handy dandy little filly.”
Redwood made it three straight wins in the eighth taking Blue Star Victory to top spot, over Rick Kosterman and Ignite The Spark, and Dal Reo Indy with driver Glenn Le Drew.
Redwood, who also trains Blue Star Victory, said the nine-year-old took some time to get into race condition this year, but is finally coming into form that has the gelding on the verge of $160,000 in lifetime earnings.
“He had the perfect trip following a horse that could lead (Ignite The Spark from the one hole),” said Redwood. “He’s a nice class horse. He knows what’s going on,” he said.
