Trotting fillies were out in full force Monday evening at Woodbine Mohawk Park as the oval played host to a trio of Ontario Sires Stakes Grassroots divisions for the sophomore set.

Hang On Baby blew away the foes she faced in her $22,600 division for the tandem of driver Trevor Henry and trainer John Kennedy.

Sent off as the 1-2 favourite, Hang Up Baby took on Shes Beer League at the quarter pole in :27.3 before brushing her way to the top.  She then gave way to Stormont Mabel in the backstretch.  That foe cruised along through middle splits of :56.2 and 1:25.3 before Hang On Baby tipped off the rail and went back on the attack.

Hang On Baby smoked home in :28.4 to win by five lengths over Muscle Up The Gold in 1:54.3.  Stormont Mabel weakened late and wound up being fourth-placed-third.  Shes Beer League was third-placed-fourth for a pylon violation in the opening turn.

Hang On Baby, a daughter of Muscle Mass-You And Me Baby has manufactured an eight-for-14 record this season for owners Ralph and Sandra Pitt of Cargill, Ont.  The 10-time winner lifted her lifetime earnings to $106,555 with the win.

Rose Run Xcentric gave sire Kadabra back-to-back stakes scores on the card thanks to her 1:56.4 triumph in the second division for driver Jody Jamieson and trainer Rob Fellows.

Out of the mare Drink The Wine, Rose Run Xcentric shot to the top from Post 7 and never looked back.  She carved out fractions of :28.1, :57.3 and 1:26.4 before cruised home in :30 to win by 1-1/2 lengths over Halo Its Heaven.  Grace came on late to grab the show dough in the $23,000 tilt.

Sent off at odds of 4-1, Rose Run Xcentric is now one-for-five this season and three-for-13 in her career.  Brookbro Racing and Chris Bell share ownership on the filly who lifted her lifetime earnings over $70,000 with the win.

Stormont Molly, a daughter of Angus Hall-Stormont Fried marched to the lead in the final division, and once she got there the others couldn’t track her down.

Sylvain Filion had her parked out past an opening quarter of :28.2, but she brushed to the lead in the backstretch and then hammered out middle splits of :58 and 1:27.  Her :28.4 closing speed propelled her to the win by 1-1/2 lengths over Socks N Crocs in 1:55.4.  Angelonia rounded out the Trifecta ticket.

Kevin Benn trains the homebred, who was sent off as the 6-5 favourite, for owner Stormont Meadows of Long Sault, Ont.  After going unraced at age two, the filly has answered with a 3-0-2 record this season from just eight assignments.  That success has translated into over $30,000 in earnings.
