A pair of $22,000 conditioned tilts for trotters highlighted Monday’s 10-race card at Woodbine Mohawk Park, and Hall of Famer Paul MacDonell was the winning reinsman in each of them.

MacDonell hustled race favourite Royalty Deal to the lead in her $22,000 assignment, and once she found the front it was game over for the others.

The four-year-old daughter of Royalty For Life-Cha Cha Glide rolled through fractions of :28.2, :57.3 and 1:27 before using a :29.1 final frame to win by 2-1/2 lengths over Imextraspecial in 1:56.1. Dicentra’s sharp rally in the lane earned her the show dough.

Clark Beelby trains the six-time winner for Coyote Wynd Farms of Vancouver, BC. The mare, who is two-for-two this season, has banked $180,575 to date.

MacDonell then found his way to victory lane in the co-featured $22,000 conditioned trot with Combs Hanover, a trotter who hangs his harness bag in the barn of MacDonell.

The even-money favourite got away fifth and held that position for the first half before rushing to the lead at the three-quarter pole in 1:27.3. A :28.4 final frame helped propel Combs Hanover to the five-length triumph over Four Wheelin. Third prize went to I Got The Looks.

Chris and Michael Storms share ownership on the four-year-old son of Archangel-Chez Lucie. The gelding is two-for-two this season and a five-time winner to date. The $11,000 payday pushed his lifetime earnings over $100,000.
