The finale on Saturday (May 28) promises to be far from easy to handicap as My Land attempts to take on all comers at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.

The capital oval has 10 dashes scheduled for a 6:30 p.m. opening post time on Saturday with My Land the morning line choice in the final dash of the night. Jason Hughes drives the son of Badlands Hanover for trainer Jennifer Doyle, who co-owns with Danny Birt of Earnscliffe. The 10-time winner was third his last start in this $2,700 class but will attempt to go all the way on Saturday. Cowboy Logic will loom the danger from post five for the father-son team of trainer Harold Shepherd and driver Steven Shepherd. Cowboy Logic was large his last outing with a two-length victory in 1:56.1. Blue Monk has been acquitting himself well on the East Coast and was second at this level his last start for driver Marc Campbell and trainer Jay Noye. He starts from post seven on Saturday. Legendary Ron is fresh off a 13-length romp at Exhibition Park Raceway in Saint John, N.B., and gets post three with Dale Spence above the wheels.

The newcomer in the field is post four starter Windsong Quincy (Gilles Barrieau) as the five-year-old son of Sportswriter moves into the Thane Arsenault stable after last racing at Rideau Carleton Raceway for trainer Philip Reid. The eight-time winner took his lifetime best of 1:54 over Rideau in 2021.

Also in the field are Smart Official (David Dowling) and JK Express (Adam Merner).

Peter MacPhee likes Cowboy Logic on top of the Post Time Picks.

“What a move that was last week made by Cowboy Logic, clearing to the lead up the backstretch and cruising to victory in 1:56.1,” MacPhee said. “Now he’s climbing the class ladder but with Steven on board they get the gold again.”

The evening feature lines up in the ninth race for a $3,300 purse. Time To Dance (Campbell) is the top choice from post five over GA Speed Sammy (Mark Bradley) from post three and Burn Out Hanover (Brady Sweet) who retains the rail for the fourth straight week.
