Vautour Scores First Conditioning Win

It only took four starts at Exhibition Park Raceway with eight-year-old pacing mare Houseofstars for Lynda Vautour to earn his first training victory

The resident of Saint John, New Brunswick scored her first career win in the eighth race conditioned pace on Saturday afternoon. Houseofstars ($11.60) turned back Dusty Lane Buster and held off favourite Iwish Iwish down the stretch to win in 2:04.1. Mark Haig drove the House Of Fun mare, who had picked up cheques in her previous three starts for Vautour.

The afternoon's featured $1,500 Winners Over Pace went to six-year-old gelding Skippy ($7), who rallied home from the backfield in :28.1 for the 2:01.1 triumph, his first from two New Brunswick starts. Dale Spence trains and drives the son of Camluck for owner Sean MacSwain of Vernon Bridge, P.E.I.
