Tyler Moore drove Arrakis to his third consecutive victory in the $13,000 Preferred Handicap Trot at The Raceway at the Western Fair District on Tuesday evening (April 11).

Moore left the gate quickly with the Francis Guillemette trainee. Once the field reached the straightaway, the pair took control over favoured Power And Grace (Brett MacDonald) for only a brief stint before Lilys Lass (Jeffrey Hunt) powered to the front. They clocked the opening panel in :28.4. As the field approached the half in :59.3, Aussie Lover (J Harris) hit the gas in a surge for the top with Power And Grace in tow. At the three-quarters in 1:28.3, Arrakis was sitting third, locked in at the pylons. Aussie Lover made a break, giving Arrakis the room to escape and power down the stretch to a 1:58.2 victory by a head. Power And Grace was second and Lilys Lass finished third.

Eleven-year-old Arrakis is owned by Guillemette and Robert Bernicky. The veteran trotter pushed his career earnings to $583,500 with 44 trips to the winner's circle -- five of those trips have been made in 2023 in his 11 starts this season so far.
