Shooting Brooke ($5.90) had her guns blazing at the top of the long home stretch at Buffalo Raceway on Wednesday afternoon (March 6) and she gunned down the field in the featured $14,054 pace for the fillies and mares.

Driver Joe Chindano Jr. and trainer Maggie Chindano kept their early season streak alive by sweeping their third consecutive feature. The husband/wife tandem was victorious in the co-featured Open Pace and Open Trot events on Saturday (March 2) evening at Buffalo Raceway and now have added another notch with Shooting Brooke.

The pacesetting and favoured Louie The Lilac (Kevin Cummings) took early command and set fractions over the sloppy track of :29, :59.2 and 1:29.2. Shooting Brooke in the meantime received a perfect pocket trip and when heads turned for home, she quickly blasted her way to the lead. She ended up posting a 2-3/4-length decision in 1:58.2 over the sloppy track.

The only battle left was for runner-up honours. Bee Still My Hardt (James McNeight Jr.) won that encounter while Candys Desire (Kyle Cummings) collected the show spot.

Winning her first start of the season, Shooting Brooke (Straight Shooting-Fox Valley Brooke) lifted her career earnings to $112,206. The six-year old mare, who scored 12 victories last season, is owned by Josh Greenberg.

Chindano Jr., who collected four wins on Saturday night, topped that Wednesday with a five-bagger. Jim Morrill Jr. had a driving triple with Kevin Cummings and Kyle Swift getting doubles.

Maggie Chindano led the way on the training side with three victories. She is now a perfect five-for-five at Buffalo Raceway in 2024. Samuel Smith also conditioned three winners while Angelo Nappo and Rachelle Mungillo conditioned two winners apiece.

Racing will resume on Saturday, March 9 with a 14-race program slated to get underway at 6 p.m.
