Double millionaire stakes-winning pacer Western Fame has been retired from racing and will stand his first season at stud in 2022.
Western Fame p,3,1:50.1h; 1:48.1f ($2,002,788) is the fastest and richest son of world champion racehorse and sire Western Ideal to stand in Ohio. His dam is stakes winner and multiple sub-1:50 producer Shyaway p,2,1:52.3 ($141,662).
A multiple stakes winner throughout his extensive racing career, nine-year-old Western Fame earned $2 million competing against the best pacers of his generation, including McWicked, Lazarus N, Filibuster Hanover, Racing Hill, Betting Line and many more.
As a three-year-old, he won the Bluegrass, Little Brown Jug elimination (second in the final) and Breeders Crown elimination, while finishing second in the Matron, Tattersalls and Pennsylvania Sire Stakes final.
From age four through seven, he captured four legs and the final of the $664,000 George Morton Levy Series, as well as the Prix D’Ete, Confederation Cup and Borgata consolation.
In 129 career starts, he finished first, second or third 72 times and paced 14 sub-1:49 miles, including his 1:48.1f record.
