Andy Over went gate-to-wire and fended off the bettors' choice to win the $13,000 Preferred Trot at The Raceway at the Western Fair District on Tuesday (March 14) evening.

Eyes Of Justice (Tyler Borth) was the first to the top, but held the lead only for a brief stint as Andy Over took over just before the opening quarter in :29.2. Driver Ed Hensley moved Andy Over through a comfortable second quarter in :31.2, clocking the half in 1:00.4, before picking up the pace as favoured Kameran Hanover (Chris Christoforou) challenged on the outside. Andy Over continued forward as they passed the three-quarteres in 1:29.4. Kameran Hanover made one last surge in the stretch, but Andy Over held on to win by a head in 1:58.3. Eyes Of Justice finished third.

Andy Over is a six-year-old gelded son of Andovers Son owned by Ed and Ashleigh Hensley of Dundas, Ont. The Ashleigh Hensley trainee has 24 wins and $174,193 in career earnings.

Jeff Hunt had his first pari-mutuel drive on the Tuesday evening card and it was a winning one. Hunt drove Lilys Lass to a 1:59.2 victory for trainer and co-owner Pat Hunt — Jeff's father — and co-owners Goldfinger Stables of Thornhill, Ont.
