The six-year-old OK Boromir mare Randomirogeo rallied off cover to snag the $12,000 Fillies & Mares Preferred Pace at The Raceway at Western Fair District on Wednesday night (March 1).

Sunshineatthebeach shot to the lead and raced unchallenged through a :28.1 first quarter and :58.2 half. So Frisky, the 6-5 favourite, pulled first over to press the pacesetter to the backside with Randomirogeo in tow to three-quarters in 1:27.2. Off the final turn, So Frisky took the lead but failed to hold off Randomirogeo’s late challenge – losing by a neck at the beam of a 1:57.4 mile. Wildcat Delight sat a pocket trip to finish third and Sunshineatthebeach faded to fourth.

John Kennedy trains Randomirogeo, a homebred for Valerie Phillips. The mare won her 20th race from 77 starts and has now banked $144,105. Travis Henry drove the $8.90 winner.
