Pylon-starter Miss Itunes protected position from the pylon post and delivered on a 2-5 promise to take the $10,000 Fillies & Mares Open Pace at Fraser Downs on Thursday night (Feb. 2), the first night of the 2023 meet.

Driver Scott Knight sent Miss Itunes to the top as the field settled in post-position order to a :28.4 first quarter. Unchallenged through a :59.2 half, Miss Itunes continued to coast up the backside as Century Mach mounted a first-over challenge towards three-quarters in 1:27.3. Miss Itunes opened three lengths spinning off the final turn and strolled for home 3-1/4 lengths better than pocket-sitter Western Summit to stop the clock in 1:56.1. Moosette took third from Century Mach.

Donna Wyse and David Lamont own Miss Itunes, a six-year-old mare by Mystery Chase. She won her 17th race from 78 starts and has now earned $182,243. She paid $2.80 to win and was one of three victors on the nine-race card for trainer Chris Lancaster, whose other wins came with Outlaw What If CC (1:58 winning mile, $2.60 to win) and The Final Rose (1:56, $5.50).

Racing continues at Fraser Downs with 28 race dates total for the winter/spring meet, which runs through May 5 on a Thursday-Friday schedule with racing starting at 7 p.m. (PST) on all but the final Friday of the meet. Fraser will also host a meet starting in the fall on Sept. 14 and run through to Dec. 15.
