Driver Clarke Steacy, who was sidelined with a back injury late last season, has returned to action at Rideau Carleton Raceway.

The former Coville Cup champion and winner of 375 races made the decision in November to take a break from driving and rehabilitate his back so he could be 100 per cent when he returned to the sulky for his trainers. Treatments have gone very well since as Clarke engaged in strength and conditioning training leading up to his return last Sunday.

"It felt very good to be back in the sulky," Steacy told Trot Insider. "I plan on making a full-time return back for Rideau now as long as an opportunity to drive for other trainers as well as our own horses will continue to present itself."

The 31-year-old reinsman is listed to drive three horses this Sunday at Rideau, including the Jamie Johnston-trained Larry Is Debs Rock, who was a runner-up to the heavy race favourite in Steacy's first drive back last weekend. First race post time is 6:30 p.m.
