Incaseyoudidntknow Upsets Dover Open

Incaseyoudidntknow wired the field and won the $25,000 Mares Open Handicap Pace at Bally’s Dover on Wednesday night (Feb. 22).

Driver Jim Morand sent Incaseyoudidntknow to the top and did not look back. Incaseyoudidntknow sailed through race fractions of :26.3 to the quarter and :55.2 to the half. Dewitt For Josie moved first over from fourth before the half. The 4-5 betting favourite, Majorca N, shadowed second over on the rim down the backstretch.

Incaseyoudidntknow was in cruise control reaching the three-quarters in 1:23.2. Majorca N flattened out nearing the three-quarter pole. Jody became leg weary in the pocket. Feeling Sweet closed well from a third-over race position.

Incaseyoudidntknow drew off in the stretch and won in 1:51.4 by three-quarters of a length. Dewitt For Josie finished second and Feeling Sweet settled for third. 

Incaseyoudidntknow, a five-year-old Always B Miki mare, is owned by James Magno and Joseph Fonte, both from Maryland. Les Givens trains the $18.20 winner.

There are three exotic carryover pools to Thursday’s racing program. The Pick 3 carryover is $1,553 and starts in the fourth race. The Pick 5 carryover is worth $767 and begins in the sixth race. The Pentafecta carryover of $1,553 is available in the 13th and final race on the betting card.

Crissy Crissman-Bier trained and owned three winners on the card.

Penzance Hanover attempts to win his third consecutive race in the $27,500 Blue Hen/Open Handicap Pace on Thursday (Feb. 23). Post time at Bally’s Dover is 4:30 p.m. (EST).
