Better Watch It Best In London

Odds-on favourite Better Watch It led at every step and held firm to control against pocket-popping Pacingdownadream to take the $8,200 featured pace at The Raceway at Western Fair District on Tuesday (Dec. 14).

Driver Brett MacDonald motored the three-year-old Hes Watching filly off the car from post 5 to click a :28.3 first quarter with Pacingdownadream stalking from second. Brydown Better Bea angled first over out of fourth into a :58.4 half but stalled into the backside as Better Watch It cruised in command to three-quarters in 1:27.4. The race came down to Better Watch It and Pacingdownadream off the corner, with the latter inching nearer to the leader. But Better Watch It dug in to the pylons to hold a half-length advantage at the beam of a 1:57.2 mile. Reademandweep finished third, another five lengths behind, with Brydown Better Bea taking fourth.

Owned by Ryan Clements and David Deighton, Better Watch It won her fifth race from 15 starts, pushing her earnings to $20,721. Lindsey Kerr trains the $3.30 winner.
