Qualifiers at Woodbine Mohawk Park

James MacDonald steered four to victory in the six qualifying races at Woodbine Mohawk Park on Friday, Nov. 3 including a gate-to-wire triumph with Whichwaytothebeach in race five.

The fifth race of the morning session comprised of a dense field of competitors with six of the eight aged pacers boastings five figure earnings.

J. MacDonald sent the Garry Merner trained Whichwaytothebeach to the top from post six and the pair rattled off panels in :29.2, :57.3, and 1:25.4 before going on to win by a head in 1:53.4. Fresh off a trip to Hoosier Park to compete in the Breeders Crown Final, Dabarndawgswatchin ($596,864) and Louis-Philippe Roy sprinted home from fourth to challenge the leader, but had to settle for second at the wire. Backstreet Gambler ($103,660) and Tyler Jones completed the top three while Camara Moment ($241,228) and Doug McNair grabbed fourth.

Whichwaytothebeach is owned by Gino Toscani as he shows three wins in 15 starts this season with $66,601 earned. In his career, the five-year-old gelded son of Somebeachsomewhere and the Art Major mare Swinging Beauty has a record of 16-8-8 in 64 starts with a lifetime bankroll of $747,313.
