Further updates have been reported on the four drivers injured in Friday night's accident at Yonkers Raceway, with surgeries pending for Tyler Buter and Jim Marohn Jr.

According to a report from the Standardbred Owners Association of New York President Joe Faraldo, Tyler Buter is scheduled "to undergo back surgery on Monday as a result of the source of his back pain being identified as multiple fractures at T-12 [of] the thoracic spine which are said to make the site unstable. Hopefully, the surgery will stabalize the site." Buter also sustained broken ribs and a collarbone in the spill.

Marohn Jr. is also "due for possible surgery to repair the fractures in his forearm at the wrist and near the elbow."

While Matt Kakaley did not require a stay in the hospital after being banged up in the accident, he may require further assessement including an MRI to rule out any serious cause of back pain.

Bob Di Nozzi was also involved in the accident and sustained multiple broken ribs.

The accident took place in the eighth race on Friday, Nov. 17 and the race was declared a No Contest. The ninth and final race that followed on the program was cancelled. All of the horses involved -- Oaxacan Dream N, Two Proud, Man Dontforget Me and Silent Crossing -- are believed to have escaped without serious injury.

Please join Standardbred Canada in wishing all drivers involved a full and speedy recovery.
