Ten-Pack To Tussle In Progress Elim

When the entry deadline came and went for this year’s Progress Pace at Dover Downs a total of 10 names were dropped in the box for the rich affair.

Those pacers will be looking for a top eight finish this Wednesday in order to advance to next week’s rich final at the Delaware oval.

Fresh off his win in last week’s $164,750 Matron Stakes for three-year-old pacing colts and geldings, Charlie May is the 5-2 morning line favourite in Wednesday’s elimination.

Brett Miller will be paired up with the Steve Carter trainee from Post 10 – a trailing post. The 17-time winner has racked up 10 of those wins this season for owner/breeder Don Tiger of Canonsburg, Pennsylvania. He’s banked close to $840,000 this year and more than $1.1 million to date.

Lous Pearlman, who was a neck behind Charlie May in their most recent battle, will look to exact revenge in the rubber match. Yannick Gingras will sit behind the Ron Burke trainee from Post 4. The son of Sweet Lou-Lucys Pearl has won seven of 17 this year while banking more than $750,000 to date.

Abuckabett Hanover was a bang-up third to Charlie May and Lous Pearlman in the Matron, and he’ll be looking to be just as effective on Wednesday from Post 7 for driver Andrew McCarthy and trainer Tony Alagna.
