The Raceway at the Western Fair District hosted the first leg of the Autumn Series for Ontario-sired two- and three-year-old fillies on Monday (Oct. 9) evening in three divisions, each worth $8,500.
Black To Reality equalled the time for the fastest series division, winning the first split in 2:01.1 with J Harris in the bike for Paul Reid.
Favoured Leavinwithasmile (Brett MacDonald) was the pacesetter for the mile and clicked out the first panel in :29.4. Czech With Vivian (Colin Kelly) followed in second while Black To Reality got away third on the pylons. Black To Reality faded to fourth with a first-over advance by Greystone Cheet O (Lorne House) at the half in 1:00.4. That bid briefly stalled as Harris pulled Black To Reality second over at the three-quarters in 1:30.3 behind No Place To Hide (Anthony Haughan). As the pacesetter began to fade, Black To Reality and No Place To Hide were in a match race for the victory. Down to the wire, Black To Reality prevailed by a quarter of a length in 2:01.1. Greystone Cheet O grabbed third.
Black To Reality is a two-year-old daughter of Shadow Play and the Artsplace mare Take My Breathaway. She earned her first career tally in 12 starts and now has $11,898 earned. The filly is owned by Norah Parks, James Grant and Jeffrey Seibel. She paid $9.90 to win.
The second division went to Timeless Kiss and Brett MacDonald for trainer Gavin Christie.
Favoured Bet Im Shady posted the first two panels in :29.2 and 1:00.4 while being followed by Southwind Stratus (Haughan) in second and Timeless Kiss in third. Lady Speaker (Michael Horner) pulled first over before the half, leaving Timeless Kiss back to fourth at the three-quarters in 1:30.4 and into the final turn. Down the stretch, the fillies found themselves in a four-wide sprint. In a blanket finish, Timeless Kiss prevailed by a half length to win in 2:01.2. Lady Speaker was second and Southwind Stratus took the show spot.
Timeless Kiss is a two-year-old Artspeak-Timeless Beauty filly owned by William Beacham and Gavin Christie. She earned her first win in six starts and moved her purse total to $6,081. She paid $10.10 to win.
Mollys Game capped off the series action, pacing an equally fast 2:01.1 with Harris in the bike for trainer Shawn Steacy.
Harris and Mollys Game led through every panel in :29.1, 1:01.1 and 1:31.2 before crossing the wire 1-1/4 lengths the best. Vivi Z (Travis Henry) finished second and Pink Gee (Todd Ratchford) rounded out the top three.
Owned by Mickey Sudar and Dewitt Stables, the two-year-old daughter of Bettors Delight and the Western Terror mare Case Dismissed earned her second career victory in nine starts and now has $13,086 in earnings. Mollys Game paid $3.20 to win.
