There were no tricks and all treats this Halloween for Tyler Borth as the reinsman drove seven to victory on the evening of Tuesday, Oct. 31 at The Raceway at the Western Fair District.
Borth kicked off the evening spree with a victory in the opener. In the $7,000 conditioned pace, I Loved Her First (sired by Bettors Delight) won her class by 1-1/2 lengths in 2:00 for trainer Mike Timpano and owners Wendy Warren Timpano and Seaspray Stables Ltd. She returned $5.30 to win.
Following in race two, Borth won with Timpano's student Sea Storm (Bettors Delight) by 1-1/4 lengths in 2:02.4. The winner of the $6,000 conditioned pace is co-owned by her trainer and Seaspray Stables Ltd. She paid $2.40 to win.
Aj Bella (Hes Watching) gave Borth a natural hat trick in the first three races with a 3-1/2-length triumph in 2:01 to collect the winner's share of the $6,000 purse. Trainer Adrian Dimmers owns the filly with Janny Dimmers. She paid $3.50 to win.
Borth returned to the winner's circle with tje William Hamm-owned pupil Massive Profit (Muscle Massive) after a victory by three-quarters of a length in 2:00.4 in a $9,000 condition trot. She returned $7.30 from 3-1 odds.
Concluding his streak for the first five races was Chief Editor (Sportswriter) in the $5,000 claiming pace. The Stephen Bossence trainee pocketed a 3-1/4-length achievement in 1:59.3 for E C S Racing LLC and Kevin St Charles. He returned $4 as the even odds favourite.
With a 5-1 upset in the eighth race and $7,600 conditioned pace, Borth added his sixth tally on the evening card, driving Brent Belore student Getting Euchred (All Bets Off) to a 1:59 victory by a neck over the favourite. Ronald Thomson owns the winner, who paid $11.30.
As the seventh trip to get his picture taken on Tuesday, the Ingersoll, Ont. resident scored a win in the finale, a $5,200 conditioned trot, to tally up bookend wins over the 10-race card. Darryl Laver trainee Petro Angel (Archangel) led from gate-to-wire by 3-3/4 lengths in 2:00.3. Laver bred and owns the winner. She paid $9.30 to win as the 4-1 third choice from post seven.
Borth posted his 350th win of the season after dominating the London oval race card on Tuesday. He extended his lead as the top driver at Western Fair to 166 tallies, 68 victories ahead of the pack.
