Three divisions of the Harvest Series for two-year-old fillies went postward Monday evening at Woodbine Mohawk Park, and all three winners were also victorious in their first leg assignments.

Dabarndawgswatchin went to the front and didn’t look back in the first or two splits for the pacers. The daughter of Hes Watching-Addison Bay knifed her way through fractions of :27.4, :57.2 and 1:27.1 before kicking home in :27.2 to win by 2-1/2 lengths over Trouble Brewing in 1:54.3. Taking home third prize was Jackieofalltrades.

Sent off as the 6-5 favourite, the homebred improved her record to 3-4-2 from 11 starts for owners Julie Ferguson and Lloyd Stone. The $8,500 payday lifted her lifetime earnings to $27,896. Jody Jamieson mapped out the winning trip with the Ron MacDonald trainee.

Shes A Sassy Beach quarter pole-moved to the lead in the second division for driver Sylvain Filion, and once she cleared it was game over for the others.

Platine Alpha carved out the opening panel in :27.3 before giving way in the backstretch to Shes A Sassy Beach. She proceeded to lead the field through middle splits of :57.1 and 1:27.1 before uncorking a :27.2 final panel. It was enough to earn her the win by 1-1/2 lengths over Platine Alpha in 1:54.3. Control The Thong was third.

Ken Middleton bred, trains and co-owns the daughter of Sunshine Beach-Lady Marina with the Estate of Bill Galvin. Sent off as the 4-5 favourite, the filly improved her rookie record to 3-1-1 from 12 starts with the win. She’s racked up more than $42,000 to date.

Hawaii, who was let go as the 1-9 favourite in the lone division for trotters, got up in the final strides to capture her $17,000 assignment for trainer/driver Rick Zeron.

Zeron got away in mid-pack with the daughter of Justice Hall-Yankeedoodlecandy while Out On A Mission was charted as the leader through an opening quarter in :27.2 – the problem is she was on the gallop all the way through that first panel. Tealicious then took charge in the second quarter, and she proceeded to lead the field through middle panels of :58.2 and 1:27.4.

Hawaii was on the move first-over for Zeron as the field moved around the final turn, and she used a :28.3 closing quarter to catch Tealicious in the closing strides. She defeated that foe by three-quarters of a length in 1:56.4. Taking home the show dough was Somewhat Sacy.

Rick Zeron Stables of Oakville, Ont. owns the freshman who now owns a 2-2-1 record from eight trips to the track. She’s banked over $53,000 in her career.

The fillies will battle in the finals for the Harvest Series next Monday evening at Woodbine Mohawk Park. The pacers will race for a purse of $46,000 while the trotters will tussle for $45,400.
