London Classic Yearling Sale Concludes

The 2022 London Classic Yearling Sale concluded on Wednesday afternoon (Oct. 19) with Muscle Mass offpsring topping the second session held at the Western Fair District Agriplex in London, Ont.

Masstercraft (pictured above), selling as Hip 118, was the day's sale topper at a price of $110,000. Consigned by Dean and Ashley Wilson, the Muscle Mass-Pretty Crafty colt is a full sibling to 2021 Dream Of Glory Trot champion and Grand Circuit stakes-placed Publicity Seeker ($296,180 - 1:54.4). He was purchased by Steve Colvin of Hanover, Ont.

Northern Looker, Hip 141, also garnered a six-figure bid on day two of the sale. The Muscle Mass-Shestheonetowatch colt was purchased for $105,000 by Charalambos Christoforou of Campbelleville, Ont. from the Erinwood Equine Inc. consignment.

Mass Cara, Hip 116, rounded out the top three highest-priced yearlings of the session selling for an $85,000 price tag. Consigned by Century Springs Farm Inc., the Muscle Mass-Penetangore filly was bought by Arthur, Ont. horseman Kyle Bossence, who campaigns her full sister Mass Hysteria, runner-up in last weekend's Ontario Sires Stakes Super Final. 

A total of 186 yearlings were sold at the first London Classic Yearling Sale, held over the course of two days, for $6,637,000. The average price was $35,682. Trotting colts led the way with an average price of $52,310 from 31 sold, including five yearlings by Resolve for a top sire average of $73,600 and 19 by Muscle Mass for an average of $66,368. Bettors Delight led the pacing sires with his 17 yearlings selling for an average price of $49,764.

The Resolve colt Heist Seelster was the overall sale topper, selling for $165,000 during the opening session on Tuesday. To read the complete recap from Day 1, click here.
