A dead-heat victory in the seventh race capped off a Friday night training triple at The Raceway at Western Fair District for O'Brien Award finalist Cassidy Schneider.

The Schneider-trained pacing mare Black Betty (Travis Henry, $5.10) struck the front turning for home on the way to the 1:59.1 win with the Kevin Gillis homebred Dan Dar Mal (Scott Coulter, $7.80) rallying off her back and hitting the wire in tandem.

Schneider picked up her third win on the 10-race card with Black Betty's effort. The mare is owned by her father, Colonel.

Two races earlier, Team Schneider scored with the popular trotter Downstairs Party ($2.30), who swept to command on the backside and was a three-length winner in a two-minute mile with Garrett Rooney between the wheels.

Robert Chapple's homebred pacing mare Big Lady J ($3.50) started the party, leading wire-to-wire in 1:58.2 in the third race for Schneider. Henry, a four-time Friday night winner, was in the bike.

Schneider, who enjoyed a breakout season in 2022, was recently named The Raceway's Trainer of the Year and is an O'Brien Award finalist in the Future Star category. Horses trained by the Arthur, Ont. resident won 87 races and more than $630,000 in purses last year.
