Truro Bolsters Grand Circuit Week Broadcast

Harness racing at Truro Raceway

Truro Raceway has announced that two prominent Ontario-based commentators will join its broadcast on-site for Grand Circuit week during its 2023 harness racing season.

Shannon “Sugar” Doyle and Caity Hillier will be part of the Truro race card broadcasts between Sunday, July 16 and Sunday, July 23.

Doyle, a native of Summerside, P.E.I., is the long-time track announcer at The Raceway at Western Fair District. He contributed to some of Truro’s broadcasts last season and has a strong familiarity with both the horses and horsepeople of the area.  He is well known as one of the top track announcers in harness racing.

Hillier, a native of Hanover, Ont., was the face of Hanover Raceway’s race day broadcast, serving as an on-air racing analyst and marketing assistant the past two seasons. She also co-hosted broadcasts at all five Ontario racetracks that participated in the OLG Ontario Women’s Driving Championship in 2022.

Caity Hillier

“We’re very pleased to have Sugar and Caity commit to joining us in Truro for a very important week of racing action, with many of the top stakes events on tap that week," said Steve Fitzsimmons, new Truro Raceway General Manager. "Sugar does an incredible job at calling races and analyzing the horses and is a great handicapper. I had the great pleasure to work with Caity at Hanover and she is a rising star in our industry. She did a great job in Hanover on-air and I know Truro fans will enjoy her work as much as Hanover fans have. We want to do our best to make Grand Circuit week as special as we can.”

Truro Raceway's 2023 season is scheduled to begin on Sunday, May 7.
