COSA Election Results

Earlier this year, the Central Ontario Standardbred Association mailed out nomination forms to all eligible COSA voting members.

COSA did not receive any new nominations to the COSA Board by the required deadline. Paul MacDonell, Jack Darling and Matt Bax, whose three-year terms as Directors had expired, opted to run again and therefore all three have been acclaimed for an additional three-year term. COSA would like to welcome back Paul MacDonell, Jack Darling and Matt Bax to the COSA Board.

Paul MacDonell has enjoyed a lucrative career as a catch driver, earning close to $120 million. Paul has won many major stake races, including the Breeders Crown, The Metro Pace, and the North America Cup to name a few. Paul had the pleasure of driving many of harness racing's champions, such as Lifetime Dream, Village Jiffy, Duke Of York, Rustler Hanover, Jeremes Jet, Admirals Express and of course, the late, great Somebeachsomewhere. This year Paul will be inducted into the Canadian Horse Racing Hall of Fame.

Jack Darling has been an owner and trainer for more than 40 years and has been involved in almost all facets of the horse business including claimers, racehorses, stake horses, and developing two-year-olds. Jack has also been involved in numerous advisory groups and meetings with racetracks, government reps and various industry groups over the past several years.

Matt Bax was born into the horse racing industry. Matt currently owns and trains horses with his partner and father, John Bax, as part of Bax Stables. He resides with his wife and young family in Campbellville on the family farm. Matt’s passion for the horse racing industry is unwavering. Matt is determined to ensure the longevity of the industry by providing ideas inspired by the younger generation.
