Recently named the unanimous winner of the Keith Waples Driver of the Year Award as Canada’s leading reinsman, the personable James MacDonald isn’t only popular on O’Brien Award ballots. The man who originally hails from PEI has a great family and many friends behind him, and also possesses the unique ability to tell a good story - something he comes by honestly. TROT recently sat down with James and asked him to tell us a few tales, about some of the people who have helped him along his way, from racetrack canteen employee to O’Brien Award winner.
