Lyndale Royal Puts Streak On The Line Saturday At The CDP

Lyndale Royal has been established as the morning line favourite (5-2) in the Saturday night feature at Red Shores’ Charlottetown Driving Park.

The six-year-old son of Force Of Life will be looking for his fourth win in a row and eighth of the season. Driver Walter Cheverie has picked up the catch-drive from Post 3 for trainer Brent Campbell and his co-owner Neal Moase, Cornwall. The pacer has been sharp, as he has posted trips in 1:56.4 and 1:55. The field is full of talent, with strong opposition expected from Machinthesand for trainer Hughie Murphy, driver Ken Murphy and owners Noonan Holdings Ltd. Machinthesand will have to maneuver from Post 7. The other triactor candidate is the veteran Balanchine, a winner of $776,792 that hails from the stable of Jackie Matheson. The line up, from the rail out, also includes Likely To Win, who is riding a two-race winning streak, Roscoes Child, Whosurwinner, My Lucky Killean and Narragansett.

The evening trot will be called to the starter for Race 4, which holds an estimated post time of 6:51 p.m. Former Summerside track record holder Holy Molie Maggie is the one to catch from Post 4. Gary Chappell will handle the driving duties for owner-trainer Jeff Holmes, Orwell, PE. Pleasure Girls (to be driven by Corey MacPherson), Caliban Hanover (Ron Gass) and Frill Seeker (Gordie Hennessey) are all capable of knocking off the favourite.

Walbert, owned by Ashley Gamester, Hunter River, is going for his third win in a row in the finale for Jason Hughes.

First-race post time for the CDP’s Saturday card is 6 p.m.

Athletic Putnam Favored To Win Labour Day Pace Monday

The Labour Day pace is all set for holiday Monday at Summerside.

Athletic Putnam, co-owned by Donald Callbeck, Kensington and trainer Paul Biggar, Tyne Valley, is the favourite.

The power packed line up has Eagle Jolt off the rail, followed by Van Vant (Ron Matheson), American Captain (Mike Campbell), Tammysmist (Ken Murphy) and Blu Meadow Willie.

Money Show headlines the trot class (Race 3) for driver Brian Andrew. The mare will be making 19th start of the season and will start from Post 6. Galabraith, Pure At Heart, Hopedale Dora, Lets Trade Ladies and Majian Magic have also been entered for the event.

The Drive for Charity campaign kicks in to the last two months of the promotion when the action moves to Summerside. The on-track betting promotions such as Play 4, Super Pack, Pick 5 and the Wild Horses tag will also feature new prize draws.

First-race post time for Monday card will be 1 p.m. The Prince County oval will feature 13 races on the program.
