Trot Insider has learned that longtime horseman Tim Brown passed away on Friday, August 9 at Langley Memorial Hospital in Langley, B.C. at the age of 54.
Brown grew up in the harness racing industry, working for his father George at Windsor Raceway from the time he was 16. Brown made the move to British Columbia in the late 1970s, competing successfully at tracks in Alberta but most prominently at Sandown Park, Cloverdale Raceway and Fraser Downs.
Brown won 2,200 races as a driver while accruing more than $8.7 million in purses. On the training side, Brown won nearly 500 races with horses earning in excess of $2.2 million.
Tim leaves to mourn his passing his mother Joan, wife Sandra, daughters Caitlyn (Jordan) and Amber (Lance), sister Leanne (Cameron) nephew Cole and his most special grandchildren Sam and Jack Dinter and Ava and Keaton Torkos. Tim also leaves many friends in both Canada and the U.S. to mourn his passing. Tim lived his life to the fullest.
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, August 25 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at West Langley Hall, 9400 208 St., Langley. A memory box will be available for those who wish to share their special memories of times spent with Tim.

When I first moved to
When I first moved to Cloverdale the very first horseman to introduce himself to me was Tim. He was a welcoming, friendly and accepting presence then. He was always that way, for the decades I knew him. I will always remember him first for the generous person he was. A true friend. But I will also never forget the tremendous talent he possessed. I will miss Tim. The memory of him will always stay with me. My condolences to his family and friends. May we all smile and be thankful for having such a kind-hearted gift in our lives. I am so much better for having had a friend in Tim Brown.

My heart goes out to you Joan and to all the family. My memories of Tim are that he was a kind, considerate, talented young man and always respectful with older people. He had a ready smile and was quick with a hug. May all your happy memories help you in the days ahead.

Got to know Tim and the Brown family in1970 when we lived in Essex,ON. We always talked about the good old days while racing in Windsor with Tim’s Dad.
