A hard-hitting field of pacers will contest the featured dash (Race 11) during this Thursday’s program of live racing at Red Shores’ Charlottetown Driving Park.

First-race post time for the 12-dash card will be 7 p.m.

McJestic (PP1, Walter Cheverie, 5-2) has been installed as the morning line favourite in the $1,800 race.

McJestic, who is owned and trained by Troy Murray, will face stiff challenges from iron-tough horses like IDK (to be driven by Vincent Poulton), Shock The Rock (Corey MacPherson) and Beckenbauer (Jason Hughes). The field will also include Oakrock Almighty (Ron Matheson), All Out (Mark Bradley), CL Eighty (Kenny Arsenault) and First Art Down (Ken Murphy).

The evening’s $1,100 trotting race has been carded as the fourth dash on the docket. Southfield Shadow, who has drawn Post 7, has been favoured on the morning line. The Terry Gallant-trained lass will be driven by Terry Gallant for owner Southfield Farms. Hope Chest (Cheverie) and Dunmore Chance (Jack Panting) are among some of the other scheduled to contest the race.

Silverhill Lucky is riding a two-race win streak into Race 12 for driver Gallant, trainer Mann and owner Casey Gavin of Tignish. The three-year-old Western Terror gelding has drawn Post 5 in the eight-horse field.

The Glenn Taylor Memorial Pace will line up for Race 9. Outrageous Spirit has been made the morning line favourite and will start from the dreaded Post 8 for driver Cheverie, trainer Jackie Matheson and owner Paul Holmes of Warren Grove.

Taylor, a longtime horse-owner and trainer, passed away in 2013. He got involved in harness racing as an owner in the 1970s and went on to own and condition horses like Moosehead and Governor’s Plate starter Rosetown Eagle. Taylor’s family is deeply rooted in Island racing, notably with his grandson Corey MacPherson, who has become one of the top drivers at the Charlottetown Driving Park and Summerside Raceway.
