Racing Paused At Truro Raceway

According to a statement issued by officials on Thursday (April 29), Truro Raceway will be forced to pause its 2021 harness racing season as a result of rising COVID-19 cases in Nova Scotia that prompted government to enforce a two-week 'circuit-breaker' lockdown.

The statement from Truro is as follows:

"The Province of Nova Scotia has reconsidered harness racing at Truro Raceway and has decided that, for this lockdown, it falls under ‘Sports and Recreation’ as opposed to an ‘Outdoor Business’. Due to this reclassification, Truro Raceway management will be adhering to the province-wide shutdown for two weeks effective immediately.

"While this is not the situation hoped for, Truro Raceway will continue to support and follow recommendations from public health officials. Truro Raceway appreciates the eagerness for updates and promises to keep horsepeople, friends, and fans informed. Our team thanks all our fans and friends for their understanding, support, and patience at this time."

According to officials with Truro, training will still be allowed but any scheduled qualifiers and races will be paused province-wide for the next two weeks.
