‘Somebeachsomewhere: Horse of a Lifetime’ premiered on Eastlink Community TV earlier this year and received glowing reviews. Now, racing fans can celebrate the life of the great pacer at a unique fundraising event.

It has been announced that the one-hour documentary will be shown at the Mohawk Inn and Conference Centre, located in Milton, Ont., on Saturday, May 4, in the Conservation Hall. There will be a question-and-answer session after the film, with a special guest (to be announced).

The documentary was put together by film and TV production company Clerisy Entertainment. Clerisy's founder and CEO, Dale Stevens told Trot Insider that he believes the story of Somebeachsomewhere can be compared to that of Thoroughbred legend Seabiscuit. "When you compare stories, pound for pound, they're (Somebeachsomewhere and Seabiscuit’s stories) at least equal and I would argue that 'Beach' has a better story,” Stevens told Trot Insider. “To me, there's a bit of I like being part of that. Let's show the world it existed and let them do the same kind of math I'm doing...why isn't this a film, right? And I think that's a real question. There's a part of me that enjoys that part of making that question come out in debate."

Doors for the event will open at 3 p.m. and the documentary will be shown via projector at 4 p.m. Admission will be $10 at the door for adults, while there will be free admission for children (they must be accompanied by parent or guardian).

“We feel privileged and so proud to have produced this documentary on such a special subject,” said Eastlink Community TV Vice President Michael Smith. “As a community TV platform that showcases the people, places and events that shape the communities we serve, we believe it is one of the best programs we’ve ever produced and that seems fitting given that this horse is considered one of the greatest of all time.”

Watch for upcoming information about the recipients of the funds being raised through this charitable event.

The event has been made possible through the cooperation and generous support of the Ontario Harness Horse Association (OHHA), Eastlink Community TV, and the USHWA Canada chapter.
