James Thurlow Passes

Standardbred horseman James E. Thurlow, 84, a resident of Gladwin, Michigan, passed away on November 9 at the Gladwin Nursing and Rehabilitation Community.

He was born November 6, 1933, to Guy and Veda Thurlow in Gladwin Township. Thurlow was a proud member of the United States Army.

He was employed for many years as a fire officer for the State of Michigan Dept. of Natural Resources. Following his retirement he worked for Sugar Springs Sporting Clays. He loved harness racing and fishing. He was a Golden Glove Boxer and also boxed while he was in the Army.

Thurlow is survived by his wife, Linda; children, Guy (Maureen), Julie (Bill) Drumm, Jami (Mark) Feldman, Chris, Mike, Dick (Donna) Pauley and Suzanne Pauley; 16 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and siblings, Gayle, Joyce Fortuna and Connie Brent. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Elwood and Ken.
