Delaware Stakes On Tap For Monday

Assuming Hurricane Joaquin continues on its projected path east of the Mid-Atlantic, the first two-year-old stakes of the year for Delaware-sired horses will get underway Monday (October 5) at Harrington Raceway.

Four divisions of filly pacers will go to post Monday – the contests have been slated as Race 3, Race 5, Race 9 and Race 10 on the 13-dash program. The fastest thus far – though she hasn’t made a pari-mutuel start to date – would be the Mr Apples filly Apple Bottom Jeans (3-1, Montrell Teague), who heads into Monday off of a sporty 1:55.2 triumph in a qualifier at Harrah’s Philadelphia on September 15 for trainer Kevin Switzer.

Pacing colts and geldings will have their turn on Tuesday with three divisions, while both sexes of trotters will compete on Wednesday in two divisions apiece.

The newly dubbed ‘Delaware Showcase Night’ on October 21 will display the top performers from the two rounds of elimination races in four $100,000 final events, and $20,000 consolations.

Live racing continues Monday through Thursday with a 5:30 p.m. post time.
