Congratulations to Randy Riff of Palmerston, Ontario, the grand prize winner in the I Love Canadian Harness Racing Fan Club’s Pick 8 Online Handicapping Contest, presented in cooperation with the Ontario Sires Stakes and featuring $1,400 in prize money!

Over 300 Fan Club members took part in the contest which challenged players to select the winners in the eight OSS Grassroots Championships hosted at Mohawk Racetrack on Saturday, September 30. Players’ bankrolls were based on a mythical $2 win and $2 place wager on their selections.

Riff topped the charts, finishing with a bankroll of $124.50. His handicapping skills landed him first place and a prize of $800. Randy has been a fan of harness racing since he was 15 and enjoys watching the races at Hanover, Clinton and Grand River Raceway.

After completing a blind draw, it was determined that second place and $400 in prize money would go to Sheldon Silver of Toronto, Ontario, finishing with a bankroll of $117.50. Silver’s involvement in harness racing goes back over 30 years ago, when he was an owner, trainer and driver. He now considers himself a fan and takes pleasure in watching the simulcasting at Woodbine Racetrack.

Kirk Jones of Fredericton, New Brunswick, also finished with a bankroll of $117.50 landing him third place and a cash prize of $200.

The second Ontario Sires Stakes Pick 8 contest will feature $1,750 in prize money, and will coincide with the Ontario Sires Stakes Super Final events on Saturday, October 14 at Mohawk Racetrack. Stay tuned for that contest to open on Thursday, October 12.
