Mar Nien A, sent the 1-5 favourite, moved up into the $15,000 Open Pace class on Saturday, Sept. 22 and delivered with a 1:52 victory at Saratoga Casino Hotel.
The Amanda Kelley trainee sat patiently towards the back of the pack through a :55.3 first half. Driver Jay Randall made his move with Mar Nien A heading to three-quarters before tipping off the cover of Lachie Maguire N and powering to victory. Lachie Magquire N held second while All Artist was third.
Mar Nien A, a six-year-old by Rock N Roll Heaven, competes for owner Scheigert Racing Stable LLC. The 1-5 favourite led an exacta and triple in the feature that came back $14 and $40.20 respectively.
Live racing continues on Sunday, Sept. 23 at Saratoga with a 15-race card highlighted by eight New York Sire Stakes Excelsior Finals, each of which will go for a purse of $55,000. First post time is set for 12:15 p.m.
